Unresolved

Those who studied the Al Quran will undoubtedly find peace in oneself and in life. There are lots to be learnt and discovered from the Holy Book. Reading and understanding its meaning is like taking us travelling through time. It makes life, the world and all that have happened and are happening more comprehensible.

There are 6,236 line in the Al Quran. No one should quote it for reasons other than to educate or bring repentance to people. It shows us the way to the right path. However, can non-Muslims quote from the Al Quran? Will the book be less holy or will Islam lose its sacredness?

So much has been spoken, discussed and debated on non-Muslim political figures who have intentionally quoted the Al Quran in their speeches to win the heart of the Muslim voters. But as usual, the issue ended without anything being resolved. Many of us are still looking for answers as to whether such act by those politicians can be accepted or otherwise or are there conditions if they want to?

I wish issues as important as this should not be left unresolved. There is dire need to be clear about the Dos and Don'ts where religion is concerned.

Are We A Team Player?

Teamwork ethic simply means that we have successfully created an environment in which the rewards for working together outweigh those of working for one own's interest.

Trouble may stem when there is a rivalry between two or more ambitious people especially when new opportunities surface and these people begin eyeing the same opportunity. Those who work with or close to them will get caught in the fallout of machinations. Judgement, morale and productivity all suffered. No one will come out a winner. Ambitious people, who let personal priorities get the upper hand, will destroy a great deal of goodwill, waste energy and upset everyone.

Effective leadership contributes to effective teamwork. It's not about bosses giving good recommendations for promotions or awards to their subordinates or gaining popularity for leniency. It's all about the ability to motivate and inspire people to work together as a team.

Bosses are not necessarily leaders. And if bosses themselves are caught in the web of self-promoting and "visibility", subordinates can easily lose faith in trying to make a difference because undoubtedly they will not be noticed at all however much positive difference they have brought to the organisations.

We cannot be blaming one person though, for the failure of teamwork. Individually, are we a team player? How much are we willing to contribute and sacrifice as a player to the team we belong to? If we do have the sense of belonging and loyalty towards the team, our team, every work/ task becomes lighter and easier to complete. Everyone will be seen as a piece of strength that in unison, no force may be able to shake or break. Otherwise, we would better not consider our self a team at all.

Bang Ngah

Cerita Lepas Raya

Sunyi jabatan pada hari ini. Empat orang staf masih bercuti raya. Mungkin tak puas beraya walau cuti enam hari. Biasanya cuti semua orang nak panjang. Waktu bekerja semua nak cepat balik. Gaji kita dibayar untuk apa sebenarnya. Patutlah kakitangan kerajaan seringkali disindir sinis. Kerja sikit cuti banyak. Kerja tak ada kualiti. Ada benarnya tapi perlu tapis bila berkata-kata. Bukan semua kakitangan kerajaan malas belaka ataupun suka curi tulang.
